The Full Story
St. Agnan is a small village in the Dordogne on the border between the Périgord Vert and Périgord Blanc. The village is situated
in a widely varied landscape of undulating meadows, small rivers and lakes, against a backdrop of charming hamlets.
The region is famous for its rich nature and history as well as for its fine cuisine.
Le Pavillon de St. Agnan lies hidden in a monumental park on the edge of the village of St. Agnan.
The impressive former residence and service buildings of Baron de Hautefort are nowadays used as a holiday destination
of not only the peace and quiet seeking and cultural minded holiday maker, but also serve families
who are looking for a small-scale and child friendly holiday accommodation.
There are 5 gîtes varying from 4 up to 10 persons and a château “Le Pavillon” for 14-16 persons.
The gîtes are situated in an old restored farm house around a horse-shoe shaped courtyard. The interior is stylish
and well equipped, and the bedrooms are furnished with comfortable modern beds. Much attention is paid to the setting
of the gîtes and their terraces to create as much privacy as possible for each guest. The terraces are decorated
with tasteful and comfortable garden furniture, an umbrella and a big BBQ.
Le Pavillon is situated in the center of the park. The interior has been renovated in the original style.
It is richly decorated with fireplaces and wooden/copper/cristal chandeliers, and has many period features such as panel doors, parquet, wooden ceilings and silk wallpaper. Le Pavillon not only has a terrace with comfortable garden furniture, umbrella and BBQ,
but also a veranda with beautiful views overlooking the park. At the first floor you will find a large balcony.
All bedrooms are furnished with comfortable and modern beds.
The gîtes and the château are equipped with modern conveniences such as a TV and DVD-player, microwave, dish-washer, etc.
There is a central laundry room with washing machines and tumble-dryers which you can use at no extra charge.
The estate has a heated and fenced swimming pool (12 m x 6 m) with a Roman staircase, and a heated paddling pool (6 m x 4 m).
Lying in the deck-chairs around the pool, you experience a great view overlooking the park.
The pool is open from the 28th. of April until the 31st. of October.
You will find a playground with a volleyball/badminton-net, football goals, a swing, trampoline, and a climbing frame.
On other locations in the park we have a tree house, child's bikes, tricycles and a go-kart. Our recreation room is equipped with ping pong, billiards and toys, doll-house etc. This recreation room is on apllication also available for our guests to use as
an extra room where groups can dine or arrange meetings in a pleasant atmosphere.
The estate of Le Pavillon de St. Agnan includes lawns with formal boxwood hedges, woodland, fields and an orchard.
In our park you will find an impressive variety of special trees like Sequoia's, Tulip tree and centuries old Lime-trees.
The entire estate is walled.
In St. Agnan are a baker and a large supermarket with a butcher and fresh fish section.
In the many restaurants in the surroundings (one within walking distance) you can enjoy the famous regional dishes
such as foie gras, confit and magret de canard, wines from Bergerac and tarte aux noix.
